Association of Marina Industries

The Association of Marina Industries, an offspring from the 2005 merger of the Marina Operators Association (MOAA) and the International Marina Institute (IMI), focuses primarily on advocacy and industry updating as well as training and certification for the marina industry.

Created in 1992 by a group of marina owners and facility managers in the industry, the MOAA’s primary purpose was one of legislative and regulatory advocacy. The IMI was founded in in the mid-80’s to promote education, training and certification of marina managers and operators. Seeing the numerous membership benefits of consolidation, the two organizations merged and now serve a diverse group of 800 members.

The Association of Marina Industries is renowned for its:

  • Certified Marina Manager (CMM) program.
  • Small topic conferences.
  • International Marina & Boatyard Conference (IMBC).

Their certifications are recognized worldwide. The Association of Marina Industries is publicly most recognized for its annual industry trade show, the International Marina & Boatyard Conference (IMBC).

Membership benefits include special schooling opportunities, online classes and training through the International Marina Institute. The 2017 International Marina Institute catalog is available here and is geared towards the marina professional. Their Certified Marina Manager and Certified Marina Operator certifications are the industry standard.

Specifically for its members in the U.S., AMI provides direct access to cost-effective, innovative business solutions, research findings, educational services and regularly updated publications and marina industry news. A key membership benefit is that the AMI serves as an independent voice for the industry at a national level for all related regulatory and legislative issues.

Coordinating an internationally recognized certification program – the only one its kind – for marina managers, the AMI offers a wide selection of training and helpful networking opportunities.
